Rosé Merlot – Mikić Winery

Rosé wines are made from red grapes using the technology of making white wines. The intensity of the color is achieved through maceration, i.e. the maturation of the wine together with the skin, from which the colorants are transferred to the wine.

About wine

Depending on the intensity of the desired color, maceration lasts from a few minutes to several hours. The color of rosé wine can range from delicate pink (like salmon meat) to almost red like blood (rosette), the trends are different and change from year to year.

One of the ways to obtain industrial rosé wine is to mix white and red wine, this highly controversial method is banned in the European Union, with the exception of the production of red sparkling wines.
Not only in summer, when rosé wines are drunk chilled at 10-12°C, but also in winter, no good restaurateur should do without rosé. In summer, lovers of red wine drink it as a chilled substitute, in winter as a fruity, refreshing variant. The fairer sex prefers wines with fruity aromas and slightly less alcohol, but it is not uncommon to find rosé wines with 13% alcohol and even more.

Mikić Winery produces rosé from Pinot Noir and Merlot and tries to maintain top quality by asking itself a variety of questions: choose the best grape variety this year or make a blend of that variety, determine the right time of harvest, how long to macerate, at what temperature to ferment…? These are some of the questions we have to find the best answer to, but you don't have to doubt us, you just have to try our rosé wine.

At the “Honey and Wine” fair in Negotin, the best rosé wine comes from our cellar, the Mikić Rosé winery is first and foremost sufficient proof that we know the right answer to the questions we have listed.
